We continue to honor our founder Mrs. Estée Lauder’s legacy by championing women everywhere.
Like our visionary founder, the iconic designer, philanthropist, and author Diane von Furstenberg has devoted her life to inspiring women. As founder of her eponymous brand and creator of the iconic wrap dress, Diane defined freedom for generations of women. Yet her commitment to women’s empowerment extends far beyond fashion. Through her global movement and platform, InCharge, she continues to connect, uplift and advocate for women around the world.
As Diane says, “To be InCharge is a commitment to ourselves. It is owning who we are. When we own our imperfections, they become our assets. By owning our vulnerabilities, we turn them into strength.”
Early in Diane’s career, she was recognized and encouraged by other women who understood what it meant to build something new. One of those women was Mrs. Estée Lauder herself.
“I have a beautiful photo of Mrs. Estée Lauder with me in the early 70s,” said Diane von Furstenberg. “I had just arrived in New York and started my business. She was very kind and protective, which is how she made me feel. She was a huge personality in New York and the world, and a woman I admired."
This Women’s History Month, we celebrate these two icons whose legacies and shared values of empowerment, confidence and creativity continue to inspire women everywhere.
