with our children.

Working for Estée Lauder, we’ve accrued our fair share of beauty tips. We know how to give our cat eyes the perfect flick, that a consistent skincare routine is everything, and the one nude lipstick that looks flattering on everyone (it’s Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick in Rebellious Rose, by the way). But there are certain bits of life advice that only a mother knows. In celebration of Mother’s Day, we got our teammates to share their best family secrets. Confidence Is Everything

“My mom came to the United States with an open mind and was ready for a new start. As an independent woman, she created her own path in a completely strange, new country and met my father in her mid-twenties. That’s what inspires me most about her—she took a chance, stretched her boundaries, and tested herself. As Estée Lauder herself said, ‘Confidence breeds beauty.’ My mother usually has a clean face with barely any makeup on, and she glows. I’ve learned from her that less is more, and, in fact, it’s what’s on the inside that shows on the outside. But a little Advanced Night Repair doesn’t hurt!”

Start Young to Stay Young

Find Your Signature

“My mother is the ultimate beauty girl. She never left the house without red lipstick and perfume (and she wore the same shade and scent for 10 years). She took great pride in her beauty routine, so growing up I always watched her get ready. Of course, I learned a thing or two, and although they may be simple, I fully intend on passing these lessons down to my future children. For starters, less is more! Don’t cake on the makeup—and let skin breathe. The essentials I got from her are face powder (to reduce shine), red lipstick (makes teeth look whiter and pulls your look together), and perfume. Additionally, my mother always told me to wash my face at night—regardless of whether or not I wore makeup. Going to bed with a clean face is the best thing you can do for your skin. Lastly, she would always put my hair in braids and made me sleep with a satin bonnet before bed. And I still do that to this day! It makes the most perfect kinky curls in the morning.”
